Richard Cuthbert was born and raised in Winnipeg, MB. Richard completed his education at the University of Manitoba, graduating with a B.Sc. in Agriculture in 2003, an M.Sc. specializing in plant breeding and genetics in 2006, and a Ph.D. in 2011, specializing in plant breeding, molecular genetics and plant pathology.
In 2011, Richard assumed the lead for the bread wheat breeding program for Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada in Swift Current, Saskatchewan.
Richard's wheat breeding and research focuses on the efficient adoption of technology to enhance wheat variety development as well as improving resistance to FHB and mycotoxins, resistance to stripe rust, improving water use efficiency, and developing new predictive quality testing assays.
