Erin Armstrong


As the Director of Industry and Regulatory Affairs for Canterra Seeds, Dr. Erin Armstrong is responsible for trait and license agreements, intellectual property protection and regulatory issues. She joined Canterra Seeds in 2008 following her tenure as President and CEO of the Brewing and Malting Barley Research Institute (BMBRI). Prior to BMBRI, Erin worked with Canada Malting Co., Ltd. and General Mills, Inc.

Dr. Armstrong also served for two years as the inaugural CEO of Limagrain Cereals Research Canada (LCRC), a joint venture cereal breeding company established by Limagrain and Canterra Seeds launched in July 2015. In this role, Erin was responsible for the oversight and general management of the business, the development and implementation of business plans and budgets, and working with industry partners to ensure LCRC became an established research company in Western Canada.

Dr. Armstrong has a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Agriculture from the University of Manitoba and a PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Ottawa. Currently she is the Chair of the Canadian Food Inspection Agency’s Plant Breeders Rights Advisory Committee and the Co-Chair of the Value Creation Working Group under Agriculture & Agri-Food Canada’s Grains Round Table.
