Dr. Nicholas Larkan
Dr. Nicholas Larkan was raised in Perth, Western Australia where he completed his Ph.D in Plant Molecular Genetics before moving to Saskatoon to work on blackleg resistance in canola.
He worked for as a post-doc and biologist for Agriculture & Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) for a number of years before forming Armatus Genetics Inc. He continues to work closely with AAFC and canola industry partners to identify new blackleg resistance sources as well as in identifying the genes involved in disease resistance from both plant and pathogen.
He also works closely with Discovery Seed Labs in Saskatoon in developing and applying modern DNA-based tests for the detection of pathogens.
